"Being your true nature" great documentary out on the 8th of December!

Last summer I was shocked by the London riots and the violence and anger brought to my doorstep in London. Desperate, confused children destroying their OWN neighbourhood.
Shortly after the riots I left for a meeting of a charity I have been supporting for some time.

I have never met so many amazing people at one spot in my life.

They have amazing concentration and focus. They are knowledgeabl
e and interested in the world. They cultivate kindness with determination and intelligence.

They are educating children & adults to see and cultivate their best potential. In a secular way- using the wisdom traditions of the world.

Feel free to check out the documentary about the 2011 gathering released on the 8th of December:

Just found this in my archive..Dirk Bach as "Flora"

Dirk Bach- rest in peace little man. A little man maybe, but what an actor he was!

This still is from some On air Promotion Promo I directed some 20 years ago for the German Channel ZDF. He was incredibly gifted but was constantly used way under his real acting potential. What a shame, would have loved to see him in some more great roles.

Farewell!

BBC Olympic venue visualizations

Check out the Olympic venue visualizations on the BBC (I think they sold them to quite a few different broadcasters around the world).
I helped Crystal CG with designing and texturing, as well as animating and consulting. And setting up some 3d comps in Nuke.

Not sure if anyone has done this before, building the WHOLE of greater London inside a 3d graphics application.

Look out for my bicycle parked on Acton High street (the green rusty one, locked to a lamppost).

Check out the HD video here.  I was involved in the flyovers like the one pictured above:

Nuke artist for Unit TV

Through DigitalGurus, I helped UnitTV with some Nuke work on these commercials for TalkTalk broadband earlier this year.
Featuring a voice over by Helena Bonham-Carter, the 60” and 30” spots advertise various promotional offers from the phone provider.

Check them out here:

CBBC's "Spirit Warriors" on iplayer again

Kids show I supervised in 2009, 1100 shots, every trick in the box on a shoe string budget.
Also learned a lot about love and compassion with production companies on this one.

Supervising for Champs commercials

Check out these commercials I just finished supervising through Soho Editors for Th1ng, featuring two giants of the NBA and NFL, Kevin Durant and Max Stafford.
The spots were created for Champs Sports, one of the largest sports retailers in the US.

I worked closely with director Justin Dickel and producer Hannah Cooper to achieve the time slice shots and seamless transitions, supervising a team of six 2d and 3d artists.
After doing the previs animatics in Maya in London, the high speed footage was shot in L.A..
Shots were than tracked, CG liquids and balls added, supports for the sportsmen painted out and the shots blended together in AfterFX.

Check out the commercials here:

"I Know Me /Make a musical" on BBC2 this Thursday 19th at 4:00h (I was VFX supervisor on this)

I am very happy and excited to be part of this "Gamelab London" project (I set up and supervised the post production pipeline and did the on set supervising):

"A bully and his victim find themselves lost in a fantasy world.
Bemused and scared, the travellers are calmed by the spirit who will take them on a journey to help them understand anger, fear and loneliness. The musical featured in this programme was developed and performed by groups of pupils with special educational needs. At the end of the musical itself there are a few short workshops which can help
classes who would like to try to produce the musical themselves."

This is a musical I Know Me devised by Owen Smith and Rebecca Applin. All music is original and has been composed, arranged and directed by Rebecca Applin. The production has been produced and directed by Martin Wright and was devised over several months working with pupils from Abbey Hill School and Performing Arts Academy, Haringey Sixth Form Centre and College Park School. Other than the role of the Spirit taken by Kali Perkins, all other parts were performed entirely by pupils from the participating schools. The intended audience is similar schools with SEN provision and is designed to encourage such schools to produce the musical themselves. The programme will also appear on BBC Learning Zone Class clips in due course and will be supported with downloadable scores, lyrics and MP3 backing tracks.

The Pirates! Premiere in Bristol

A little summary of The Pirates! Premiere in Bristol by my friend Jesús Diez-Pérez, for those who couldn't be there:

It was an amazing event. Everyone was dress smart or as a pirate (some as a smart pirate). It was great to great some friends in the queue, all of them looked gorgeus. We had to queue and then leave our phones/cameras at the entrance, so graphic documents are going to be tricky. At the entrance Peter Lord was greeting the visitors and i had a picture with him, actually two. Then, after seeing some suspicious trays with drinks we found out that they were giving wine and beer for free. They said "one per person" so I went once, took my wine, then took my glasses off so that they wouldn't recognise me and got another glass (easy!). Some girls dressed as pirates (very good looking) were giving shots of rum (no need to use tricks here). Ten minutes before the show we went up to the screenings, got our 3D glasses and entered the room. More friends here and there, it was really nice. Then the lights went off and there he was, Peter Lord walking to the mic, dress as the Pirate Captain with Polly the Dodo under his arm. He gave one of his glorious speeches (I realised then I missed them a little). After saying that Spielberg would never give a speech dreesed like that, thanking everyone for the hard work and having some problems with the echo in the mic, he introduced... Hugh Grant! That was great! People say he is a grumpy character but he seemed really funny to me. He said things like at last he could do some action acting, something he was never able to do and wished to be animated for the rest of his movies. Also he made fun of Peter Lord with things like "I don't really like him" or "his nose is too small for his face".
Then the movie started. Glorious, you have to go and see it, you get out with a smile in your face. And in the ends, the credits! with our names on them, a really special moment. After this, some more wine, rum, beers, more friends and off to London to work the next day. A night to be remembered...

Inspired by Cervantes "Don Quixote".

Bashti, young energetic cleaning woman, is tired of her job at the London Museum. Also, she isn’t keen on the marriage her debt ridden uncle arranged for her on the other side of the planet. She is keen on dressing up, the clubbing scene and the music of ”Basement Jaxx". That’s why she decides to run away one night . And so an adventure starts, including Truman the bike courier and member of an ancient order of knights, mud fights, stage diving, Asian wise men, prostitutes with pop star ambitions, rockers dressed up as native Americans, sheep attacks, skinny dipping in lakes, arrogant Transvestites, Preachers in white tennis socks, Mermaids, passionate lovemaking on a summer night, being chased naked through Epping forest and cooking magic mushrooms. And trust me, the list doesn’t end here.

But how is she going to explain all this to her son? And why is he just like his father?
